About Our Name
Where does the name Konamoxt come from?
Many people have asked us this, so we thought we’d tell the story of how we picked our name.
Konamoxt is a word from the Chinook Wawa. Chinook Wawa was a trade language used throughout
the Pacific Northwest of the United States, British Columbia, and as far north as Alaska.
Konamoxt loosely translates to “together”, and was often used to describe a gathering of people.
There also happens to be a glacier in Alaska named Konamoxt because of it’s beautiful and
unique shape of multiple glacial fingers joining into a single glacial mass.
Needless to say, based on our belief in the power of togetherness, and our love of the outdoors,
we felt the name was perfect for us.
